Superior Technology Ensures 'Two Thumbs Up' DVD Recording |
| SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif.,
July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer's hottest DVD recorder is also the most
technologically advanced. Partnering with the leaders in DVD research and development, the
all-new Memorex Dual-X DVD Recorder debuts new precision recording technologies and
delivers specifications that propel this Dual Format DVD Recorder ahead of every other
comparable drive -- ensuring that consumers are always ready for show time. With the Memorex Dual-X drive, the consumer is the only one moving and shaking. The new Dual-X drive utilizes a state-of-the-art technology that constantly stabilizes the drive's servo-system and significantly reduces the effects of vibrations caused by imbalanced discs during high speed recording and playback. In addition, the Memorex Dual-X drive uses a liquid crystal tilt mechanism that provides accurate and reliable operation with discs that have uneven curvature or thickness during both recording and playback. Particularly important in DVD disc authoring and recording, the Memorex Dual-X drive achieves approximately 10 times better overwrite performance than previous benchmark DVD recorders. Memorex achieves this using an industry leading defect management system that allows discs to be rewritten many times over without causing a degradation of disc quality or sacrificing write performance. "As DVD technology continues to evolve, Memorex is committed to embracing new advances in performance and technology," said Mark Becknauld, product manager, optical and magnetic storage products. "Our Dual-X drive is not only packed with superior writing and rewriting technologies, but it also provides an impressive host of features and benefits that guarantee your DVDs are recorded right the first time, every time." The Memorex Dual-X drive boasts a 60,000-hour MTBF -- nearly 30 percent better than the average competing drive -- and a 2MB buffer that ensures the even flow of data when writing to DVD discs. It also comes standard with a buffer underrun protection system that ensures uninterrupted recording and perfect discs. Additionally, users can mount the Dual-X drive horizontally or vertically for the added convenience of installing the drive in virtually all PCs. Most competing drives only allow for horizontal installation, which eliminates several of the newer, streamlined PC cases and unique applications. About the Memorex Dual-X DVD Recorder Memorex takes the guesswork out of DVD recording with its Dual-X DVD Recorder, offering support for both DVD+ and DVD- recording formats. The drive writes to DVD+R/-R discs at 4X and CD-R discs at 16X; rewrites DVD+RW discs at 2.4x, DVD-RW discs at 2X and CD-RW discs at 10X; and reads DVD-ROM at 12X and CD-ROM at 32X speeds. Consumers can create DVDs that are playable in virtually any DVD-ROM or DVD player, and take advantage of full CD recording, rewriting and reading functions. The drive delivers a total of eight recording and playback formats, and features a stylish new silver and black design, as well as new packaging, new documentation, a top of the line software bundle from Roxio, and toll-free technical support.
